Gianmarco has over 15 years’ experience as a professional economist advising clients on mergers, antitrust, and competition litigation across a wide range of industries—including consumer goods, energy, finance, healthcare, industrial products, media, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, technology, transport, and payments. My work blends rigorous economic analysis with practical insights to help clients navigate complex regulatory and legal challenges.

He began his career at the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (now part of BEIS) working on energy and climate change projects. At the UK Competition and Markets Authority (and its predecessor, the Office of Fair Trading), he led the economic assessment of more than 20 Phase I and Phase II mergers.

Since moving into private practice, he supported clients on high-profile global, European, and national mergers, as well as Article 101 and 102 TFEU cases and private litigation. His experience spans proceedings before the European Commission, the UK CMA, the US FTC, and several national competition authorities and tribunals, including Italy.

He co-authored Law360 article “4 ways AI tools can improve traditional merger analyses”, which was nominated at the 2024 Antitrust Writing Awards.

Before joining Econic, Gianmarco was Sr Principal at Keystone Strategy and Vice President at Compass Lexecon. Gianmarco holds an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, with BSC dissertation in statistics and MSC dissertation in game theory applied to competition policy.
