Josep Peya is a Principal, based in Spain.
Josep has extensive experience providing economic advice on several mergers before the European Commission and the Competition Markets Authority. He has also advised clients on other high-profile competition matters such as abuse of dominance cases, or the quantification of damages, before the European Court of Justice, the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, and other national courts in jurisdictions such as Spain and the Netherlands.
His work spans across a broad range of industries, including energy, telecommunications, financial services, industrial manufacturing, biotechnology, airport handling services, sports betting, and agricultural products. Notably, he advised the merging parties during the European Commission’s Phase II investigation of the Orange/MásMóvil deal in the telecommunications sector.
Prior to joining Econic, Josep worked at other leading economic consultancies. He holds an MSc in Competition and Regulation from the Barcelona School of Economics, a BSc in Economics and Law from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a PG Diploma in EU Competition Law from King’s College London. He is also a qualified lawyer in Spain.
