Catalina Campillo is a Partner in the Brussels and Madrid offices. She has 15 years of experience as a competition economist.
Catalina specializes in the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques for competition policy cases, including the assessment of the competitive effects of mergers, the impact of cartels, market definition and abuse of dominance investigations. She also has extensive experience on damage estimation.
Catalina has advised clients on a wide range of sectors including automotive, financial markets, railway, package delivery, car rental services, tobacco, beverages, FMCG, medical devices, chemical products, electronic components and beauty products.
Her recent work includes the estimation of damages following the heavy truck manufacturers infringement and the ethylene infringement. She also advised clients in high-profile mergers before the European Commission and other competition authorities around the globe, such as Glencore/Teck, Alstom/Bombardier, Siemens/Alstom, Widex/Sivantos, NKT/ABB, HP/Samsung (printer business), Ball/Rexam, Siemens/Dresser-Rand, UPS/TNT and NYSE/Deutsche Bourse. Catalina has submitted expert reports to Commercial Courts in Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands, and given expert testimony before multiple Commercial Courts in Spain.
Catalina is recognized as a Future Leader in Lexology’s Competition Economics Index and previously won the “Rising Star” award from W@Competition.
Catalina holds the title of M.A. in Economics and Finance by Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI) and a B.A. with honors in Economics by Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
