On March 24, 2026, Econic Partners Founding Partner, Jon Orszag, was awarded ‘Economist of the Year’ at the 2026 Global Competition Review Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC.
According to GCR, the ‘Economist of the Year’ award recognizes a competition economist whose superior technical skill, practical judgement and excellence in client service in 2025 demonstrates that they are among the very best in the field.
In 2025, Jon co-founded Econic Partners and worked on six matters nominated for the 2026 GCR Awards, including four winning matters.
The winning matters include:
- Merger Control Matter of the Year – Americas: UnitedHealth Group/Amedisys
- Merger control matter of the year – Europe: American Express Global Business Travel Group/CWT Holdings
- Litigation of the year – Non-cartel prosecution: Avadel Pharmaceuticals v Jazz Pharmaceuticals
- Matter of the year: Pfizer/Metsera
