Alex is a Principal at Econic Partners based in Brussels and Madrid. Prior to joining Econic and helping form its European competition practice, he worked for nearly eight years in the European Competition & Antitrust practice at RBB Economics.
Alex has extensive experience in the economic assessment of mergers, having notably advised on numerous Phase II investigations before the European Commission. Some notable cases Alex has advised on include Vivendi/Lagardère, Aon/Willis Towers Watson, Siemens/Alstom, Elanco/Bayer Animal Health or Blackstone/Celanese, among others.
Alex has advised clients on mergers, cartel investigations, and abuse of dominance in numerous national jurisdictions, including the UK, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Singapore, and Australia. He also regularly supports clients on damage estimations in follow-on litigations. He notably advised Cora in its litigation against dairy producers, which was ultimately granted damages by the Paris Court of Appeal.
His experience extends across a diverse range of industries, including aerospace, animal health, fast-moving consumer goods, industrial chemicals, insurance brokerage, online platforms, rail transport and tobacco.
Alex holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Economics School of Louvain, where he also completed a year abroad at Clemson University. He also graduated from the Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon, where he studied Culinary Arts. Alex is fluent in French and English, and speaks intermediate Spanish.
