Andy Parkinson is a Partner at Econic Partners based in London and Brussels.

Andy has almost twenty years of experience advising clients on the economics of competition law cases. He is recognised as a Thought Leader in Competition Economics by Lexology Index, with client feedback noting that he is “extremely good and very easy to work with”, “[an] excellent economist, especially in merger control matters”, and that as an “expert for follow on damages litigation, [he is a] very experienced and very trusted economist in this field”.

Andy has extensive experience in merger cases before the European Commission and the CMA, including several Phase 2 cases (such as Bayer/Monsanto, Halliburton/Baker Hughes, and Ryanair/Aer Lingus before the European Commission, and NortonLifeLock/Avast, JD Sports/Footasylum, and Thermo Fisher/Gatan before the CMA) and many others approved at Phase 1: recent cases include Altrad/Stork UK (CMA), Novo Holdings/Novo Nordisk/Catalent (EC), Brookfield and Cameco/Westinghouse (CMA and EC), Culligan/Waterlogic (CMA), and S&P Global/IHS Markit (CMA and EC).

Andy also acts as an economic expert in  competition litigation cases in the UK. He has submitted expert economic evidence in litigation in the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and advised on cases in both the Competition Appeal Tribunal and High Court.

He holds an M.Sc. in Economics from University College London (UCL), where he specialized in industrial organization, and an M.A. (Cantab) in Economics from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge. Before joining Econic Partners, he spent over ten years at Compass Lexecon, where he last served as a Senior Vice President.
