Enrique Andreu is a Founding Partner of Econic Partners based in Brussels and Madrid. Enrique specializes in the application of economic and econometric analysis techniques to the study of antitrust and competition policy issues, including the assessment of the competitive impact of cartels and mergers, market definition, damage estimation, abuse of dominant position and state aid investigations.
Enrique has worked on a wide number of antitrust cases across several industries including banking and financial markets, railway, media, tobacco, hardware, consumer research, fast-moving consumer goods, fresh foods and beverages, telecommunications, packaging, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Enrique regularly advises clients in cartel damages litigation (including Trucks, Cars, Milk, among others). He currently supervises one of the teams that works on the estimation of damages following the heavy truck manufacturers infringement, for which litigation proceedings are taking place in various European countries. In the recent past, he provided advice on mergers in front of the European Commission, such as Alstom/Bombardier, Telia/Bonnier Broadcasting, E.On/Innogy, T-Mobile/Tele 2 Netherlands, Shire/Takeda and The Walt Disney Company/Twenty-First Century Fox. He also advised on mergers investigated outside the European Union, such as by the UK CMA, the Chilean FNE and other Latin-American competition authorities.
Enrique has given expert testimony before the General Court of the EU, the European Court of Justice, the Spanish Supreme Court, multiple Commercial Courts in Spain, the Portuguese Competition, Regulation and Supervision Court, the European Commission and several national competition authorities. Enrique has also provided expert reports to the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and is featured in the Who’s Who of Competition Economists publications.
Previously, Enrique spent over 10 years at Compass Lexecon, serving as an Executive Vice President in the European competition policy practice. He also served as a member of the European Senior Leadership Team, EMEA Head of People and Head of the Brussels office. Before joining Compass Lexecon, Enrique worked for over six years for the Global Competition Policy Practice at LECG. Prior to this, Enrique worked as a temporary lecturer at the Universidad de Navarra, and as an Instructor in Economics at University College London.
Enrique holds an M.Sc. in Economics and Econometrics from the London School of Economics, an M.Sc. in Finance from the Universidad de Navarra, as well as a B.Sc. in Quantitative Economics and a B.A. in Business Administration from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
