Thibaut de Bernard is a Partner at Econic Partners based in Paris. Thibaut specializes in merger analysis and the application of economic and data analysis to competition cases, both in France and beyond.

Thibaut has advised clients on a variety of merger cases before European and national competition authorities, including some of the highest profile French, European and global mergers in recent years. This includes: Intermarché/Casino stores, Orange/VOO & Brutélé, Yokohama Rubber/Trelleborg Wheel Systems, Aon/Willis Towers Watson, Thermo Fisher Scientific/PPD, Fiat Chrysler/Peugeot,  Fraikin/Via Location, Keolis/Carpostal and Safran/Zodiac.

In addition, Thibaut has provided economic advice on a variety of Article 101 TFEU and follow-on litigation cases in France, as well as been involved in several international arbitration damage and State aid cases. He was also part of the team that advised one of the heavy truck manufacturers during follow-on litigation in France.

Thibaut’s expertise spans across a wide range of industries including manufacturing, energy, postal sector, consumer goods, transportation, telecommunications, retail and IT/Media.

Thibaut is recognized as a ‘Future Leader’ in Lexology’s Competition Economics index, as well as ‘Recommended’ in France’s national ranking.

Thibaut holds a B.A. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics, a B.A. in Law from University of Toulouse, and an M.Sc. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics where he specialized in industrial organization and competition policy.
