Kevin Murphy is a Founding Partner of Econic Partners and the George J. Stigler Distinguished Service Professor of Economics Emeritus at The University of Chicago in the Booth School of Business and Department of Economics.
Professor Murphy is a renowned economist specializing in microeconomics, labor economics, price theory, industrial organization, and statistics. He brings decades of experience as a prominent economic testifying expert on complex antitrust, intellectual property, labor discrimination and regulation matters. He is recognized as one of the nation’s best economists and has been awarded numerous prestigious awards including the John Bates Clark Medal by the American Economic Association given to the most outstanding American economist under the age of 40.
Professor Murphy’s academic research has shaped modern economic theory and public policy by developing theories and analyses that explain how economic incentives influence social phenomena, such as addiction, and determine economic outcomes, including wage inequality, unemployment, and the economic value of health and medical research. His work has been published extensively, including in two books and across more than 60 academic articles.
In addition, Professor Murphy is a fellow of the Econometric Society and an elected member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
Prior to joining Econic Partners, Professor Murphy was a Senior Consultant at CRA, and a Managing Director and Principal at Navigant Economics.
