Kevin Murphy is a Founding Partner of Econic Partners and the George J. Stigler Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at The University of Chicago in the Booth School of Business and Department of Economics. He is recognized as one of the nation’s best economists and has been awarded numerous prestigious awards including the John Bates Clark Medal by the American Economic Association given to the most outstanding American economist under the age of 40. A leading scholar of markets and prices, he served as the Director of the George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at The University of Chicago and the Director of the Energy Policy Institute at Chicago (EPIC). In addition, Professor Topel previously served as editor of the Journal of Political Economy from 1993 to 2003, and on the editorial board of the American Economic Review, the two leading professional journals in economics. Professor Topel was also a founding editor of the Journal of Labor Economics, and in 2004, he was elected an inaugural Fellow of the Society of Labor Economists.
