Both are Associate Professors of Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and bring decades of experience in competition policy, industrial organization, and applied econometrics.

About Georges Siotis

Georges Siotis is a Senior Consultant and Academic Affiliate at Econic Partners and Associate Professor of Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he teaches EU Competition Policy, Empirical Industrial Organization, and European Economic Governance.

Professor Siotis’s academic research focuses on the empirical analyses of competitive processes, with a particular focus on the Commission’s Pharmaceutical Reform proposal. Previously, he served as a member of DG Competition’s Chief Economist Team, where he actively participated in high profile mergers, antitrust and State Aid cases. In addition, he served as the Senior Economic Advisor and Technical Assistance Coordinator in the EU Commission’s Task Force for Greece (TFGR).

About Jesús Carro

Jesús Carro is a Senior Consultant and Academic Affiliate at Econic Partners, and Associate Professor of Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Spain. Professor Carro has experience providing expert advice on identifying and estimating the effect of competition infringements. His expertise involves applying sophisticated econometric techniques for the purpose of damage estimation.

Professor Carro’s research focuses on microeconometrics, encompassing both theoretical contributions and applications in several fields, including the evaluation of public policies. Most of his research focuses on identifying causal effects in the context of structural estimation, where the unit of observation (firms, households) are characterized by significant unobserved heterogeneity. His contributions are highly cited by publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
