Dr. Elizabeth Xiao-Ru Wang is a partner and the head of the China practice with Econic Partners. She has worked for over 25 years on matters related to the economics and regulation of competition and intellectual property (IP) issues around the world. Dr. Wang has provided economic analyses in merger review, commercial disputes and regulatory hearings, especially in cross-border matters. She has been involved in casework in a variety of industries, including technology platforms, semiconductor, life sciences, agriculture, financial markets, transportations, and consumer products. She has submitted expert reports to authorities in numerous countries, and has testified in courts in China, the U.S. and the U.K.
Elizabeth’s recent cases include the Jinxin vs Apple litigation (China) in which she testified as the economic expert for Apple in in the Supreme People’s Court in China. She also provided testimonies for numerous clients including Huawei and ZTE on FRAND related litigation. Recent mergers in which she worked for the merger parties include Synopsys/Ansys, Bunge/Viterra, Broadcom/VMware, Korea Air/ Asiana Airlines, II-VI/Coherent, Tencent Music Entertainment/China Music Corp, Cisco/Acacia, Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering/ Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Aon/WTW. Elizabeth has also worked as an outside economist for China’s merger review agency State Administration for Market Regulation Anti-Monopoly Bureau on various mergers.
Dr. Wang has held leadership roles at the American Bar Association for over a decade. She was also named numerous times to the International Who’s Who Legal: Competition Economists list. In addition, Dr. Wang has published and spoken frequently on antitrust and IP issues.
Dr. Wang is also a Senior Research Fellow and Economist at Competition Law Centre, University of International Business and Economics in China. She is an editor of LexisNexis Antitrust Report and an editor at the Asia Column at Competition Policy International.
Dr. Wang has a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in the United States and a B.A. in Economics from Peking University in China.
